Consumer Fraud
New Jersey enacted its own version of the Consumer Fraud Act in 1960 which has provided some of the strongest consumer fraud protections in the nation. This prohibits merchants, sales people and contractors from using deceptive practices in the sales of goods or services to consumers. The remedy to the deceived consumer can be treble (three times) damages plus attorney’s fees. If you have been a victim of consumer fraud, you must speak with an attorney early on so that you do not miss any mandatory deadlines.
